What is the library of things?

The library of things at the RGO Library & Learning Commons is now available!

The library of things collection is located on the second floor of the library, on the shelves behind the fiction collection. To borrow an item, take its picture from the shelf and bring it to the circulation desk to check out. See a list of items here

Things to know

  • waiver form must be signed (one-time only)
  • "Things" can be borrowed for 7 days.
  • "Things" must not be used on campus
  • "Things" must be cleaned before return
  • All pieces belonging to the item must be returned (e.g. individual tools, recipe books, manuals)
  • "Things" are not renewable
  • Replacement cost will be charged for lost or damaged "things"

What is a library of things?

A library of things collects and loans out materials other than books. These objects include kitchen supplies, household items, tools, and automotive equipment. A library of things gives members of the community an opportunity to borrow items that are expensive, difficult to store, or rarely used.

Donating to the library of things?

We cannot accept used items due to liability issues. We accept new items for our library in the following categories:

  • Automotive (e.g. booster cables, tire pressure gauge)
  • Kichen (e.g. blender, air fryer)
  • Household  (e.g. extension cord, hair dryer)
  • Home improvement tools (e.g. circular saw, soldering iron)
  • Camping/Outdoors/Recreation (e.g. coolers, camping stove, bocci ball set)
