How do I search the CanCore database?

Answer

CanCore Academic Video provides access to thousands of Canadian documentaries and educational videos on a variety of topics, such as science, English language learning, and Indigenous studies.

The database contains documentaries, TV series, educational videos, and podcasts.

With CanCore, you can use filters to refine your search.

You can limit results by:

  • Subject area
    • This can be narrowed down to a single topic within a broader subject area.
  • Language
  • Type of video or podcast
  • Indigenous content

To start searching CanCore, click the magnifying glass on the top right corner of the screen.

This will open the search options for CanCore.

Click the Indigenous content only link to see only content made by Indigenous creators.

The default search shows titles & segments. This filter shows only videos. Click the podcasts tab to the right to see all podcast search results.

Click on Full Titles to only see complete videos and series. Click Segments to see short clips taken from the full-length videos. The default view shows both full titles and segments.

Click the subject area dropdown to see a list of topics covered by CanCore. Once you select a subject area, you can use the subject dropdown on the right-hand side to select a more narrow topic.
