How do I place a hold on a current textbook?

Answer

Current textbooks are actively being used as course material.

  • They are kept in the library's reserve collection and can be borrowed for 2 hours at a time
  • They cannot be reserved in advance, or for a specific slot of time
  • In some cases, we might have an older edition that you can borrow for 2 weeks

Note: current textbooks can only be placed on hold if they are signed out by another student, indicated by the "Not Available" status.

1. Use your course code to search the library catalogue for your textbook.

2. Click on your textbook title from the result list.

  • Make sure it is Not Available

3. Sign in with your myBVC account.

4. Place a request.

5. You will get an email and/or Teams message when the book is ready for pickup.

  • The library will hold the book for 15 minutes
