What are the common sentences errors and how do I fix them?
The most common errors are with sentence structure. Every sentence needs to have a subject, verb, and object. One subject, one verb, and one object are used for a simple sentence. These get more complex depending on the number of subjects, verbs, and linking conjunctions (“but,” “or,” “and,” “because,” etc.). A simple sentence is referred to as an independent clause and you can make them more complicated with dependent clauses.
Simple sentence (independent clause):
“John ran down the street.”
Subject |
Verb |
Object |
John |
ran |
street |
Complex sentence (independent and dependent clause):
“John ran down the street, because he was late.”
Subject |
Verb |
he |
was |
