How do I include appendices in a paper?

Answer

Appendices (or an Appendix, if there is only one) are located at the very end of your paper. Like your reference list, appendices are included on a separate page in your paper.

If there is more than one appendix, each appendix should begin on a new page and be lettered (e.g., Appendix A, Appendix B, Appendix C, etc.). Like the other first-level headings in your paper, the appendix title should be in bold, centred, and on the first line of your page.

Only include an appendix if it helps your reader to understand, recreate, or evaluate the statements or arugments you are presenting in your paper. The appendices (or appendix) need to be mentioned by their label in the body of your paper. For example:

"The figure in Appendix A show the qualitative..."

Most student papers do not require an appendix. Ask your instructor or review your assignment instructions to decide whether or not you should include an appendix.
