Q. How do I reference a web page?

Answer

Reference:

Author(s) last name, Initial. (Date of publication). Title of web page in sentence case. Retrieved from http://www.webpage.com

Example

Mussell, B. (2008). Cultural pathways for decolonization. Retrieved from http://www.heretohelp.bc.ca/visions/aboriginal-people-vol5/cultural-pathways-for-decolonization

In-text citation

(Authors’ last names, year, paragraph number or heading).

Example

(Mussell, 2008, para. 8)

OR

(Mussell, 2008, "A way to regain dignity")

Tips:

  • Count the paragraphs on the page and use the abbreviation para. or use a heading on the page for the in-text citation

  • Use n.d. if you cannot find the date

  • In the reference, include the month and day of publication if available (Year, Month Day).
